Our Story

In 2002 we bought our first Airedale. My father had an Airedale named Scout as a child and we grew up hearing endless adventures my dad and Scout had. My dad Kept a huge jar in his office where he put all of his spare change. He told us that when that jar was full we would buy an Airedale of our own and we would have countless adventures with it like he did with Scout. That jar started it all; in 2002 the jar was full and we bought our first Airedale. My dad told us we could name her and we named her Lady Lion Klotzle. Lady from Lady and The Tramp, Lion because dad told us Airedales used to hunt lions, and Klotzle because that’s our last name. We called her Lady for short and she was everything my dad said she would be. We soon fell in love with Airedale’s, bought a male and kicked open that door that would lead us to where we are today.

We have owned a lot of Airedale’s since then and WOW have we been blessed by the dogs that have been a part of our family over the years. A lot of joy and love and also a lot of heartbreak as we’ve had to say goodbye to many as well.. We have learned SO much since 2002 when we welcomed that crazy pup into our lives.

We are very proud of what we do and we strive to produce perfect puppies. We are continually hearing back from our past buyers about their dogs and puppies, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a picture of one of our puppies; all grown up, beautiful, and a beloved member of a family. Each and every one of our puppies have been around people and children since the day of their birth and are extremely friendly and social. Our puppies make great family pets, watchdogs, companions, and hunting dogs. They are such brilliant and clever dogs we know they could do anything, our only requirement is that they go to forever homes that love them unconditionally!

We had been successfully breeding Airedales for 8 years when we decided it would be fun to expand into another breed. The problem was that we just love Airedales so much we didn’t have a clue which breed would be as incredible as an Airedale. We talked to a lot of people and other breeders and found a breed that we knew right away was perfect for us: the Welsh Terrier! They are extremely similar to an Airedale except much smaller. Welsh Terriers are about 30-50 lbs lighter than an Airedale (they weigh about 20lbs). When we had finally picked our breed we looked for a very long time to find the right ones for us. Our family is spread across the country in Arizona, Iowa, and Oregon, and in June of 2009 we were all planning to meet in Colorado for a family reunion. We found a breeder in Missouri with puppies available. On our drive home from our family reunion we picked up Sadie. Vacations are normally sad to leave, but we could not wait until the drive home when we would get to pickup Sadie! We all fell in love with her immediately and she made the remaining 11 hours of our drive home very fun, entertaining and memorable. It was so much fun and a great bonding time with Sadie! We found Cooper from a breeder in Kentucky a short time after we brought Sadie home. They hit it off right away and have been fast friends since! They were both AWESOME dogs! And now, many years later, we have learned tons about welsh terriers and our love for them grows more and more!!

In the fall of 2017, we had the itch again. At this point Steve and I (Anne) were both married and living in our own homes. Neil & I had just built a house right behind our parents and had 6 month old Ava in tow. We all started researching breeds. We narrowed it down to 3 breeds, but something about the Lakeland terrier called to me. Honestly I don’t know if there are cuter puppies out there than Lakeland Terriers… and it was so fun to imagine having different colored puppies (we had never had anything but black and tan, which don’t get me wrong; Airedale and Welsh pups are PRECIOUS too). Anyhow, we landed on the Lakelands and brought soon welcomed Osar and Olivia into our growing families! There have definitely been no regrets! Another wonderful breed to love and adore! We are a family operation. You don’t just get me (Anne). You get the Neil & Anne Family. The Steve and Brenda Family and the John & Cheri Klotzle Family. Three Families, three adjoining properties, MANY hands available to pet and love our furfamily. We live in Ohio, outside of a small town in the country. My parents have 10 acres of land that butt up against Steve and Brenda’s 2 acres and Neil & I’s 35 acres, so plenty of property where our dogs can run, hunt, play and live their best lives. We love our terriers and breeding them and find great joy and satisfaction in knowing we sell an amazing dog that will make someone a great companion. They are such an important part of our families inner workings!! Our dogs and puppies are the glue that keeps our family close and together… I don’t know who any of us would be without them. I truly don’t believe there is a better “job” out there! There is nothing else any of us would rather do and we have been so blessed by the life God has given us with our dogs at our sides.

Genuinely passionate about our puppies

Hello! I’m Anne Ramseyer (Klotzle). My hope is that between reading that and this page about us you will see how genuinely passionate we are about our dogs and the puppies we produce. My brother Steve Klotzle and I are now the “owners” of Anne’s Airedale’s and we run the business end of it, but that has not stopped my entire family from loving and caring for each and everyone of our pets. It is MOST CERTAINLY a family operation!

I created this page because

A: I want you to feel comfortable buying your puppy from us, and feel like you “know” us a little better.

B: All the phone calls, texts, emails, and not much human interaction; I am ALWAYS curious what people are like and what they look like so I figure you are curious about us too!

The entire family has been a part of Anne’s Airedale’s since the beginning, but I always liked to think it was mainly me and my dad’s thing that we did together. We were always talking dogs and Airedale’s; always brainstorming how to make things better. Dad was a part owner in a concrete business and after a while the emails, calls, advertising all got to be too much for him to do in the evenings when he got home from work so he handed that all over to me in about 2008. Then in 2012 he gave his entire half of the partnership to my brother Steve. My parents’ roles may have shifted over the years but they have never stopped being a part of Anne’s Pups. Their roles now entail babysitting kids for Steve and I, sometimes helping with puppy deliveries, but mostly training, loving and playing with our dogs and puppies.

We truly enjoy what we do and we are fortunate to be able to call all the fun we have with our dogs and puppies a business. Other than obviously all of us playing and loving on the dogs and puppies, I mostly handle the computer and record stuff; keeping up with the website, YouTube channel, and emails. I am also usually the one you will talk to about your puppy, and updating you week to week as you grow. Steve is incredible with the dogs and puppies, they all ADORE him. He really doesn’t get the credit he should, we really should be called “Anne & Steve’s Pups”. He is a meticulous cleaner, keeping things clean and fresh all the time (not always an easy job with terrier puppies), he’s brilliant and incredibly organized. He notices and keeps notes of everything and nothing is missed with Steve supervising things. Steve also heads up our social media pages.  Steve & I work well together and the partnership has done nothing but make us closer! Our combined strengths and weaknesses have truly covered all the bases and have definitely strengthened our little business in many ways.

About Anne

My husband Neil & I got married in February of 2013. Neil was a hog farmer when I met him, however we now lease our farm out and he works on a dairy farm. My family always joked we needed to rename the farm and Anne’s Airedale’s “Hogs and Dogs” or “Puppies and Piglets.” Part of the reason we met was that he built a hog barn directly behind my parents house; we weren’t too thrilled about it at the time because we went from being able to see nothing but fields to seeing and smelling this huge hog barn. However, that ended up being the best thing that could’ve happened!

We built a house right behind my parents house on our hog farm in 2016 and it is pure bliss, being on the farm and having our property connect with my brother, Steves, and my parents.  It has all fallen into place wonderfully! We have been blessed with 2 wonderful daughters, Ava & Nora. Our girls ADORE dogs and puppies and I couldn’t be happier to have my 2 little sidekicks excited to come along to the vet for puppy check ups. 🙂 We are also active members at our church.

The picture below is one of our engagement pictures. The puppy seemed to LOVE the piglet and the piglet was just like “WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME! haha”

About Steve

Hello! My name is Steve, and I am happily married to the love of my life, Brenda. Our joy was multiplied with the arrival of our son, Asher, in November of 2021. We are loving every moment of being parents! In addition to our growing family, we recently expanded our property to be connected to my sister Anne’s and my parents’ properties. Now, our families’ homes are all side by side, which brings us closer together.

My passion for terriers began in my childhood, and I officially became a partner in Anne’s Pups in 2011. I am grateful to have been able to enjoy our dogs and puppies for most of my life. Spending time with them brings me so much joy, and Brenda, who is also a dog lover (thankfully!), finds the puppies especially fun as she was not raised with them as I was.

We are active members of our church, and outside of that, I enjoy playing the guitar, watching our puppies grow and develop their personalities, as well as spending quality time with my wife, son, and loved ones. Our family’s close bond is important to us, and our shared love for dogs and puppies often brings us together.
